Following the death of Ibrahim Momodu, a
student of the University of Benin, on May 27 in Benin City, the Edo
State capital, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Abubakar,
has directed the Commissioner of Police Edo State to take urgent and
appropriate steps to unravel the real circumstances that led to his
death.
An orderly to the redeployed officer, Amadi Idahosa, a Police Constable, allegedly shot Momodu to death in a case that has led to much public outcry.
The Divisional Police Officer, DPO of Ogida Division, Carol Afegbai, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), and her orderly, Amadin Idahosa, who shot the deceased have also been redeployed to facilitate further investigation.
