University of Ilorin New VC to Focus On E-Learning, Research


Ilorin — The new Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali has pledged to focus on e- learning and research when he assumes duty on October 16, this year.
Speaking on Sunday in Ilorin, Ambali said that the aim was to make the university an international centre of excellence.
He said the new administration would place priority on "e-learning, research, probity and service to humanity" , adding that relevant facilities would be provided to reposition the institution.

According to him, there is the need to improve the learning environment of the institution in line with the minimum standard set by the National Universities Commission.
He commended his predecessor, Prof Is-haq Oloyede for various achievements recorded by the institution.
He promised to consolidate on the gains made, especially the direct services programme which focussed on communities around the university.
Ambali also pledged to create peaceful atmosphere to ensure stable academic calendar for the university.
This he said was necessary to improve the university's national and international outlook.
The vice chancellor said his administration would provide quality laboratory and research facilities, as well as constant water and electricity supply to the campus.
According to him, departments, committees, faculties, units, centres, unions and stakeholders will be fully involved in the affairs of the institution.
Ambali pledged periodic curriculum review of all courses of the university to ensure that they meet high academic and professional standards.
